Funny how a name can trigger buried memories.
First motorcycle I ever rode - I was 14 I guess - in about 1958 - the bike was a Francis Barnett. Memory tells me the bike was a 125cc - British - with a Villiers engine.
These engines were a bit notorious because they were happy running in either direction and hilarious tales existed about the engines suddenly deciding to go backwards - today I doubt that part - but it did make for good telling back when -
One of my pals had this glorious machine and late one evening we snuck it out of his father's garage and over to the local school grounds -I got to circle the playground twice - and the itch was set - it turms out now some 40 years later I should go back and thank Trevor - for risking his father's anger and his wonderful machine to give me a life time of pleasure.
I have no idea where either Trevor or the Francis Barnett wound up - lost track of them many many years ago - but wherever they are - THANKS
